Hi Feargall,
I agree with you that there should be revenue sharing if your content is bringing in dollars for the service provider. That leads to the problem of measuring quality of content and valuation. We also need to keep in mind that these service providers like YouTube are fronting all of the costs associated with getting your content up on the web - infrastructure, software etc.

I definitely think there is a need for a marketplace that will help facilitate monetization - which is what it sounds like you are up to. I'm not sure though this will be mainstream any time soon as the "big boys" will be hard pressed to give up any more dollars.

Best of luck with your company.

-Mike

Hi mike,
Just to clarify my point at the meetup. Whether you like it or not big and small corporate entities are making money on your content either through advertising or indirectly on their valuations.
If your content is contributing to a corporations revenue or their owner's wealth through valuation shouldn't you be entitled to your share?

A portion of that money is rightfully yours. Once in your control you can do what you want with it - like giving to the first group that spoke .....changingthepresent.org! Would you prefer that or contributing to the next Google office party? Hang on a second......we are doing that now. I'd say they owe me at least a beer for this comment

Have a good one

Feargall
CEO, Citizen Image
