So, I finally got Gruff working with Ruby on Rails on Mac OS X sometime last week. If you aren’t familiar with Gruff it is a pretty nice graphing library that Geoffrey Grosenbach wrote. It is simple to work with, but is a severe pain to install and configure. You need ImageMagick or GraphicsMagick and RMagick to get it up and running. Also, keep in mind that these libraries require many other libraries themselves. For me, it wasn’t a big deal installing all of the dependencies, but rather I had a previous installation (that I was unaware of) stored in another directory that caused me tons of issues. Had to basically remove everything and start from scratch. Anyway, here are some sample graphs that I generated based off statistics from this blog (care of SiteMeter).
