TextMate and Rails

by mike on April 26, 2006

I finally started using TextMate. For those who don’t know, TextMate is probably the most popular editor for Rails development. It’s lightweight and comes with a ton of support for Ruby and Rails (bundle you can add). If you want to see examples check out the Rails screencasts. Most of the them use it. I’ve waited this long b/c in general I hate paying for software. I don’t know maybe it’s a mental block. Anyway, I’ve been using a combination of Vi and RadRails for the past few months. RadRails is good, but a bit to clunky for my taste. It’s pretty slow and crashes my spotlight – I know I know I can probably upgrade Eclipse to fix this. So, far TextMate has been awesome.
