For those who are interested in technology in NJ, I have just organized a new meetup group. The goal of the group is to provide a forum for entrepreneurs, investors, startups and anyone else who is remotely interested in technology. I’m not really sure of the meeting format just yet and am open to suggestions. There is a pretty successful NY Tech Meetup group that has over 1000 members and meets on a monthly basis. I believe they have a “gong show” format where a company can give a demo and if the crowd doesn’t like it they can boo him off. Ouch! As of right now, I’m leaning towards several formats – demos, social gatherings, tech talks (academic vs. corporate) and career-focused sessions.
The reason that I’m starting this group is b/c, let’s face it, it’s a big pain to trek into NYC. More importantly, New Jersey has a pretty strong technology community and good CS (and related) programs throughout the state. So, why not have something here?
